Federal Way Chamber CEO Rebecca Martin, CCE, has been selected by the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) to study economic recovery and resilience strategies with 21 other chambers of commerce professionals from communities throughout the United States.

The Fellowship for Inclusive Economic Growth is an immersive executive development program that provides chamber of commerce professionals with education and tools to build more equitable economies in their regions. This Fellowship comes at an important time as communities continue to address the economic and social impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The disruption to the Chamber industry by the recent pandemic has given us the opportunity to rethink how we drive business growth,” said Martin. “This new day will require not only innovation but also thoughtful scrutiny of best practices for the way forward.”

Throughout the year-long Fellowship for Inclusive Economic Growth, participants will focus on addressing different aspects of inclusive economic growth, from education and talent to economic development to entrepreneurship. The curriculum will focus on strategies for building more equitable economic outcomes and creating economies that work for everyone.

“The fellowship is an energizing opportunity to connect the Federal Way Chamber to new ideas and thought leaders,” said Martin. “I look forward to enhancing our Chamber and its Washington network with knowledge and experience from colleagues who share a vision with me of strong communities built on economic growth.”

In addition to participating in the Fellowship, Martin is one of only 4% of Chamber executives in the United States to earn the Certified Chamber Executive designation from ACCE. She also serves nationally on the CCE Commission and was appointed to a second term in March. She is the only practicing Chamber CEO with the CCE certification in the state of Washington.

"We are excited to work with this impressive group of chamber leaders," said ACCE President & CEO Sheree Anne Kelly. "This fellowship will support their efforts to engage business leaders and community stakeholders to shape recovery efforts, build resilient local economies, and create opportunities for everyone in the community to thrive.”

ACCE’s Fellowship for Inclusive Economic Growth is designed to help chambers refine their inclusive economic recovery goals and ultimately help the business associations nationwide build replicable programs and processes. Leaders selected to participate in the Fellowship represent urban and rural communities from 18 states.
